A nice Mineral Makeup guideline

A Nice Mineral Makeup Guideline

Mineral makeup has burst and created a scene in the cosmetic industry recently, for a good reason. While most makeup products today use fillers and binders, mineral makeup goes way back to the basics, using only natural ingredients to create a modern look. Mineral makeup is created from micronized minerals, including colorants like micas, oxides and ultramarines. Zinc dioxide and titanium dioxide are also common ingredients in mineral makeup, providing broad spectrum skin protection, giving you the smarter option for protecting your skin.

If you are the point of trying mineral makeup or in the search for the best mineral makeup, you may have noticed the increasing number of mineral makeup companies out there. The choices are overwhelming for people just getting into mineral makeup. This guide will show you how to choose the perfect and best mineral makeup for your skin, paving the way for you to become a mineral makeup expert as time passes by.

Here are some factors to consider when searching for the best mineral makeup:

1.) Starter kits – mineral makeup kits are a fantastic way to begin your journey into mineral makeup. Larger mineral makeup companies such as Bare Escentuals and Sheer Cover offer a variety of starter kits for different skin tones. These kits include everything you’ll need to get started like makeup brushes and sometimes even instructional DVD’s and booklets, however be careful to lookout for autoships and fullfillment programs. Smaller companies also offer makeup kits. However each company is different, so be sure to compare and choose the best kit for you.

2.) Samples – Smaller companies tend to excel when it comes to samples. They usually offer their loose mineral foundation in small and trial sizes for a smaller price, along with other of their product lines in sample sizes. Samples are a great way if you’re looking at choosing the right eye color or pigment, aside from trying out a new product.

3.) Brand recognition – you might have undoubtedly come across the big names in mineral makeup in doing your research. Companies include the aforementioned Bare Escenutals / Bare Minerals and Sheer Cover (Leeza Gibbons). You may be comfortable with starting out with a familiar brand, and believe me, there is nothing wrong with that. You don’t have to limit yourself to the larger names, since there are lot of large and small companies out there which offer skin care and quality cosmetics.

4.) Ingredients – Ingredients are a debated topic in the mineral makeup scene. Ingredients like bismuth oxychloride and talc should be avoided, as some people might say, but in reality these ingredients found in mineral makeup are perfect for your skin. It all comes down to personal preference. Some ingredients may cause irritation or breakouts for sensitive skin. The key is triying out the product on your skin. Discontinue use of the brand if it causes you skin problems. Don’t be afraid to ask questions before purchasing. Most companies are more than happy to answer your concerns about their products and ingredients that they use.

5.) Price – Mineral makeup prices can vary, depending on the brand. Expensive doesn’t always mean quality. Smaller companies can sell their products at a lower price because they don’t have to deal with the larger overhead that most large companies have, but the lower prices do not mean that the products are not high quality. Your skin will be the judge on how much you have to pay for the mineral makeup. If your skin is happyPsychology Articles, then you’ll know that you’ve found the best mineral makeup for you.

Less is Better

Not all mineral makeup is created the same. When shopping for a good brand, it’s important to note that less is more. In other words, an ingredient list a few inches thick is not a good thing. In general, the less ingredients, the better. Mineral makeup need only contain minerals. It does not need talc or other fillers. It doesn’t need preservatives since it’s made from minerals and minerals cannot support bacterial growth. Be sure to check the label, since “mineral makeup” has become a catch phrase and doesn’t mean that only minerals are contained in the formula.

Mineral Makeup ingredients

Hi everyone. Todays entry will hopefully answer a few basic questions that you have about the ingredients that are found in todays Mineral Makeup. I will list the primary ingredients here:

Titanium Dioxide:

Titanium dioxide is the most widely used white pigment because of its brightness and very high refractive index (n = 2.7), in which it is surpassed only by a few other materials.
In cosmetic and skin care products, titanium dioxide is used both as a pigment and a thickener.
In almost every sunscreen with a physical blocker, titanium dioxide is found because of its high refractive index, its strong UV light absorbing capabilities and its resistance to discoloration under ultraviolet light.

Mica:

The word "mica" is thought to be derived from the Latin word micare, meaning "to glitter", in reference to the brilliant appearance of this mineral (especially when in small scales).
Throughout the ages, fine powders of mica have been used for various purposes. The shimmer from mica is also used in makeup, as it gives a translucent "glow" to the skin or helps to mask imperfections.

ZINC Oxide:

Because it reflects both UVA and UVB rays of ultraviolet light, zinc oxide can be used in ointments, creams, and lotions to protect against sunburn and other damage to the skin caused by ultraviolet light. It is the broadest spectrum UVA and UVB absorber that is approved for use as a sunscreen by the FDA, and is completely photostable. It is also a main ingredient of mineral makeup.

These are your Basic Mineral Ingredients. Alot of companies will add stuffers, fillers, expanders, fragrance or other ingredients that really serve no purpose at all except to fill up your jar. Hopefully, this little bit of information will take some of the mystery out of your Mineral Makeup. Until next,

Choosing the right Mineral Makeup brush

The BLOG entry for this month will cover some Mineral Makeup Basic questions for those not familiar with Mineral Makeup.

First you should use the right tool for the right job.
The KABUKI brush or the CMH Essentials powder brush is best used to apply your Foundations and Veils because of the great even coverage they provide. You do not need to have separate brushes for the application of these two products. You can find a good selection of these brushes in our store.

When you are applying your eye makeup, you should use a brush suited only for the application of eye makeup, because these brushes are fine, precise applicators for use when working around the eyes. CMH Essentials also carries the proper eye application brushes in our store.

This month CMH has added a new KABUKI brush as well as (refill baggies) in a 10g size so that you can refill your sifters at a fairly substantial savings.

Until next month,

Christina
